If you can master Google, you are well on your way to
becoming a tech ninja or at least impressing your friends. Yesterday we talked about the Google URL
shortener Today we will talk about some more of the cool things Google puts out
there for your enjoyment like their built in calculator. To use Google’s built-in calculator
function, simply enter the calculation you’d like done into the search box.
Below you can find few math symbols Google can
recognize.
Ø + for addition
Ø - for subtraction
Ø * for multiplication
Ø / for division
Ø ^ for exponential (x to the power of y)
Ø % to find the remainder after division
Ø choose X choose Y fines the number of possible subset groups of Y out of the
set of X.
Ø the root of creates the root of a number
Ø % of finds percentages X % of Y finds X percent of Y.
Ø sqrt finds the square root of the number that follows
Ø ln logarithm base e
Ø log logarithm base 10
Ø lg logarithm base 2
Ø ! factorial – This must follow the number you wish to factor.
I don’t know why
any would buy a calculator or a calculator app when you can do many of the same
things right in Google. So next time you
need to do a quick calculation just Google it.
